I try to keep the slot numbering system simple... I usually try to keep VEth between 10 and 20 (both VIOSs and AIXs), if VLAN tag is not important, I also try to keep internal VLAN ID and slot number equal.
For the vFC... vFC server adapters starts at 21 in both VIOS, odd numbers for VIOS1 and even numbers for VIOS2. VFc clients starts at 21 also... so VIOS1 21-> AIX1 21, VIOS2 22-> AIX2 22... VIOS1_23->AIX1_23, VIOS2_24->AIX2_24... etc... If I'm using vSCSI, I apply a similar scheme, but starting at 51...
If I have two or more pairs of VIOS, I start again at 100... 200... etc...
That scheme depends a lot on the number of VIOS pairs and VIOCs... but it usually works fine.

Hello,

Do I need a dual backplane to setup dual VIOS?
