DB2 for z/OS Resources

As a DB2 database consultant for many years, I know it's important to keep up with what's new on DB2 for LUW as well as DB2 for z/OS. As you might imagine, it's much easier finding no-cost education on the LUW platform. But if you look, you can uncover some valuable DB2 for z/OS resources.

For instance, IBM developerWorks offers what it calls Information Management Training self-study courses. Included is a two-part series on using Data Studio Developer to build DB2 for z/OS stored procedures for use as data web services:

* Data Web Services on DB2 for z/OS, Part 1: Unlock business functions using DB2 for z/OS stored procedures and Data Web Services.

* Data Web Services on DB2 for z/OS, Part 2: Integrate z/OS data sets using user-defined functions.

In addition, the IBM DB2 Training and Certification team is now on Facebook. If you join the group, team members are available to answer all your questions. Facebook actually has numerous DB2 resources. Here's another I recommend: the DB2 for z/OS Ultimate Data Server group.

If you're looking for DB2 education, you can't forget about IDUG. If reading lengthy technical documents online isn't your cup of tea, be sure to check out IDUG's education videos. Here are just a couple on DB2 for z/OS:

* DB2 for z/OS Performance by IBM John Campbell

* DB2 Data Sharing Best Practices by IBM Jeff Josten

Finally, I'll mention, again, the IBM eBook series. While you won't find anything specific to DB2 for z/OS here, the eBook series is still a great educational resource.
