End of Marketing and End of Service

IBM recently announced end of marketing (EOM) of DB2 9 for z/OS will be Dec. 10, 2012. I thought it would be interesting to see the history of DB2 for z/OS and the length of time from EOM to end of service (EOS). From this list it appears IBM has dropped support as soon as one year and as long as four years after EOM.

Go to IBM Software Support Lifecycle for announcement letters for all these dates:

Note that end of marketing is when IBM's sales team no longer sells that version of a product. End of service is when IBM no longer accepts and performs fixes.

As noted in the table, DB2 8 will be no longer be supported as of April 30, 2012.
