I couldn't agree more. I'm most definitely an OS/400 fan. In fact, if IBM were to port OS/400 to run on Power PC hardware we could have a desktop version... hey, wait a minute! :-)

On the one hand, I agree completely that more than one focus can blur the message. And we all know that those AIX/Linux types are different from us, strange if the truth be told.
But, on the other hand, the problem we i people have always had is being taken seriously as part of the 'modern' computing world. It's an image problem that prevents other folks from even listening to our message. And it's an image problem that won't be fixed until IBM provides a generic GUI solution for the i and we begin to adopt it whole heartedly. Is it possible that by aligning ourselves more closely to the AIX/Linux people we can put more pressure on IBM to do that? Is it possible that the i community will be seen as more relevant? After all, it will be a whole new group of people we can interface with and try to proselytize. If so, it might be worth it.
