I find that clients generally embrace micropartitioning of processors, but still prefer to have dedicated disk and network adapters for each LPAR. When they need to add new LPARs or think about redundancy, they are more open to VIO servers.

Perhaps software vendors have a role to play in determining what gets implemented, the way they moved from dedicated disk to SAN in the 1990s.
