Such modesty -- "someone noticed some messages regarding changes to restricted tunables." I surely didn't notice, and if it wasn't me, it was you!

Your advice bears repeating: compared with AIX 5.3, AIX 6.1 delivers an improved out-of-the-box experience vis-à-vis Oracle tuning. Here's an article that covers both versions: http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/aix/administrator/performance/In-Tune-With-Oracle/
