I’m on vacation, and speaking at the Wisconsin Midrange Computer Professionals Association Spring Technical Conference during the week of March 14-18, but I wanted to make sure you had a bit of news from me while I’m away.
As many of you are probably aware, the JD Edwards portfolio has very popular solution for IBM i customers. You may also be aware that it’s now part of Oracle.Though we may be competitors in some areas, providing good solutions for JD Edwards customers is in the best interests of IBM and Oracle, so EnterpriseOne was one of the initial IBM i Solution Editions we announced last fall. We haven’t stopped there.
Last week, Oracle announced an Express Implementation for Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne for IBM i on Power Systems. It supports IBM i 7.1, it uses IBM WebSphere Express 7.0, and allows “Installation in days, rather than weeks.”
This kind of partnership, focused on providing a great solution with a lower total cost of ownership, is something we look for in all of the vendors with whom we work. You can read more about this specific solution this week; I’m told there will be several places where you can read more of the details. What’s important, from my point of view, is the IBM i marketing and development teams continue to remain committed to working with vendors--any vendors--who can deliver outstanding value on top of this integrated, reliable operating system.
If you have any questions about this solution, feel free to e-mail [email protected].
